I Let You Go - Clare Mackintosh

A mother loses her child on a hit-and-run, a detective's promise to find the murderer and a guilty party trying to escape a past that haunts them.

I was intrigued with the story and crimes that involve children always hit a sensitive cord in me. However, in this story the characters felt completely generic and the story was a cliché that I guessed from the first pages. I hate to be right. I love it whenever I'm surprised and when the story has twists and clever writing. The last good story like that was 'Gone Girl'. This one was no page turner, and the whole story was based on a huge plot hole I just couldn't overlook: police didn't do their work properly. It was more unacceptable when I reached the end of the book where the author wrote her inspiration for the story and the fact that she was involved in police work.

If you are looking for a physiological thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat..keep looking and let this one go...
